School context
Lumen Christi College is a voluntary, co-educational grammar school situated in the Bishop Street/Brandywell area of Derry City, Northern Ireland. Our catchment area is Derry City as well as outlying rural areas. We have 850 students aged between 11-18 years (10.4% FSL; SEN 7%). We aim for the maximum development of each pupil, intellectually, spiritually, academically and vocationally. We also endeavour to ensure that the needs and interests of individual pupils are catered for, promoting a positive self-image and physical and mental health. Our pupils are encouraged to accept responsibility and are given opportunities to exercise leadership. The wellbeing of staff and students is central.
School goals and ambitions
We have always been very passionate about the emotional, physical and mental wellbeing of our students. As a result of embarking on this award, a priority in our 2022-23 School Development Plan is 'Nurture, Equip and Empower'. Our goal is that the health & wellbeing of all students is fully and continuously nurtured and developed, adaptable to change and that all members of the school community are equipped and empowered to do this to the best of their ability. In pursuing this award we wish to further embed the wellbeing of all our students across all areas of the college. We hope this award will help us to identify our stengths and also areas for improvement!

Impact school context
Since embarking on this award we have further developed our staff and student health and wellbeing teams. As a result of this we have been able to use these teams to promote postive attitudes to health and wellbeing across the school. Every student received wellbeing workshops and this has led to the development of a framework where we will see progression from Year 8-14. There are more opportunities for staff development in this area. Health and wellbeing has become even more central to how our school operates. As a direct impact of completing this award, we are just about to embark on a 5-year programme called Being Well, Doing Well, a whole school approach to health and wellbeing.
