School context
East Park is a grant-aided special school in the North of Glasgow. We provide placements for day and residential pupils with autism and learning disabilities - we currently have 21 pupils aged from 9 to 18. Pupils come from all over Scotland, placed by local authorities for young people who cannot manage within LA provision. Around 2/3 of our children are non-verbal, and most have complex sensory needs arising from autism. English is an additional language at home for 14% of our children. 24% reside in deciles 1 or 2 using SIMD 2020 based on home postcode, Based on home postcode, 5 to receive targeted intervention, 8 based on residential postcode and 12 if either postcode is used.
School goals and ambitions
As a school for children with very complex communication and behavioural challenges, it can be difficult to monitor the health and wellbeing of our pupils in the same ways as other schools. It is difficult to break unhealthy habits, and a challenge to support mental and emotional health effectively. By using this framework to take a coordinated, whole school approach to wellbeing, we hope to make improvements to the health and wellbeing of our pupils.
