School context
The school is set in the picturesque village of Bladon. Its original structure built in Victorian times, first opening its doors in 1858, is still used today, although new buildings have been added as numbers have grown from the original six children to first attend. The school has a purpose-built hall, extensions to the original building, two outdoor classrooms and a purpose-built library. School numbers have both grown and decreased through the years but now sit at 96 children with 21 children (22%) eligible for Pupil Premium funding, 14 children (15%) on the SEN register including 5 children with an EHCP (and 2 further pending) and 12 children (13%) with EAL.
School goals and ambitions
Our ultimate ambition for the children in our care is nurture their personal qualities which will enable them to flourish and continue to grow during the next stage of their education journey and beyond. The importance of resilience in children's growth as learners and as people cannot be overestimated. Possessing resilience provides a secure foundation when seeking out and engaging with new challenges, learning as they do. Developing these qualities in our children will also have a positive impact on their experience of primary school life, as learners, as classmates, as friends and as positive contributors to school life and the wider community.

Impact school context
Our focus on resilience is one which has permeated throughout our whole school community, with pupils, parents, governors and staff all involved in the process. Developing children's resilience underpins our aim of ensuring their readiness for their next steps once they leave us. While updating the school vision and values, we decided as a community to include resilience as a core school value. Overall, the children, staff and parents now have a much clearer understanding of what resilience and growth mindset are, why they are important, and how we can help our children develop them. This has been a highly positive first step in what will be a much longer journey as a school.
